World Book Day 4th March 2021

WORLD BOOK DAY - 4th March 2021

How are Westfield planning to celebrate?

On Thursday 4th March, Westfield invites you to celebrate World Book Day by dressing up as your favourite book character! We encourage you to recycle, reinvent or reuse a costume from previous years – the more creative you can get with this the better! Alternatively, if you would like to wear your pyjamas for the day’s festivities, then we also welcome photographs of you dressed in your sleepwear with your favourite book.

We ask that you kindly send us a photograph of you dressed up in your outfits so that we can share all of your efforts with the rest of our Westfield family. You will also get the opportunity to share your outfits during your class assembly.  Photographs should be sent to sec.westfield@halton.gov.uk, by sending the photograph you are giving consent for the image to be used on our social media and school website.

We appreciate that the celebrations will look a little different this year, but we will endeavour to make the day as fun as possible! All of the teachers are busy preparing some exciting activities and lessons ahead of the big day. Teachers will share further information about this via Google Classroom.

Show Your Shares

World Book Day 2021 has a competition this year and Westfield would like to get involved. So we invite you to ‘Show Your Shares’.

Every week during the World Book Day month (four in total) the WBD charity will award prizes for the best story shares with a different theme each week.

The competition runs from 22nd of February 2021 for 4 weeks. Further information about how to get involved can be found here: https://www.worldbookday.com/show-your-shares/

Book Tokens

This year, children will receive their £1 book tokens via a downloadable single-use digital version. This will be sent to parents/carers on Thursday 4th March 2021.

Keep an eye out for further information over the next couple of weeks on our social media platforms. We look forward to celebrating the joy of reading with you all!
