Pathways Autumn 1

Our Pathways to Write text for this half term is, Queen of the falls, which is a story based on real life events, on the life of Annie Edson Taylor, a lady who went over Niagara falls in a barrel and lived! The children will be using the rich vocabulary from this text to create their own diary entries including the feelings of Annie herself. The Pathways to Read text will be When we were warriors a book based on children living throughout WW2.

What are we learning in Autumn 1?

Our RE this half term will have a focus on Christianity, looking at how they mark their journey through life.

In Computing we will be looking at how to share information safely and correctly online.

History we are learning about the Maya civilisation and are comparing it to the Anglo-Saxons.

In Art we are having a go at photography to create artwork.

Our Music this half term is studying the Baroque style of music.

PE

For this half term, we will have two lessons of PE throughout the week, which will take place on a Wednesday and a Thursday. As per the PE uniform policy, children are to come dressed in their PE kit on a Wednesday, thinking about the weather that day.

Spelling

Children will be taught spellings in school, with a focus on applying the rule that is being taught that week.

Online Learning Resources

Our children have access to a range of online resources to aid their learning. Here are the links to some useful websites that children can use whilst not in school, their usernames and passwords can be found in their School Planner.  All children are familiar with how to use these. Clicking on each name will take you to the website.
