Willow Class Home Learning - Tuesday 24/03/2020
Date: 24th Mar 2020 @ 6:44am
Hello,
I hope that you all had a good first day at home yesterday and have managed to access the resources that I have put up for you. Just to remind you, there is a blog on Purple Mash each day - which mirrors this one, books and activities for you on Active Learn, activities for you to complete on Education City and your work from your pack. If you have any questions or would like to send me any photos or videos, you can upload them to the blog or email them to mrsmcilroy@westfieldprimaryschool.com. For the Reception children, you can upload any observations (photos/videos) on Tapestry.
For today's activity, I would like you to think about the animals that we have met in our book, 'The Curious Case of the Missing Mammoth': mammoth, polar bear, penguin, hummingbird, gorilla, flamingo, rhino, blue whale, porpoise, diplodocus and T-Rex!
Then, choose one of the animals to describe. Do this orally together and create descriptive sentences about the chosen animal. You can choose to use any knowledge that you already know about that animal, what they look like or you can research online.
Your success critera is:
- to use 'and' to join words and clauses
- punctuate sentences using a capital letter and a full stop
eg, The golden toad is small and it lives in the mountains. It likes to eat bugs and it has large bulging eyes. It has long and strong legs.
For Reception children, you could use a picture of one of the animals (or the child can draw one) then use labels or captions to label the animal (leg, tail, head, ears - you could extend this to long leg, floppy ears). For Reception children, try to encourage them to write the initial sound for the word, I am not expecting perfect spellings at this stage.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Enjoy your day,
Mrs McIlroy
