Date: 4th May 2020 @ 7:34am
Good morning Oak Class!
I hope that you have all had a lovely weekend. Today is known to many as ‘Star Wars Day’ so May the 4th be with you! J
On Friday, we have a Bank Holiday, so this week, you will only be allocated school work from Monday - Thursday. This to celebrate the 75th anniversary of VE Day.
Our learning grid for this week can be found via the ‘School Spider’ app or on our school website (on our class page).
Writing – Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone
This week, we are going to continue with Harry Potter. If you haven’t already, please read the rest of chapter one. It can be found by following this link -

Part one – Comprehension
- What does ‘on the contrary’ mean?
- Find and copy a phrase on Page 15 that means calm down.
- Why couldn’t Mr Dursley sleep?
- Why do the wizards appear to be celebrating?
- Why does McGonagall begin to cry?
- Why doesn’t McGonagall want Harry to live with the Dursleys?
- What does Dumbledore’s lighter do?
- Who is you-know-who?
- Who is bringing Harry to Privet Drive? How does he transport him?
- What is on Harry’s head?
Part Two - Summarise what you have read
Draw Albus Dumbledore from the description provided. Label the key features from the text that you have included in your drawing.
Complete this on a double-page spread. Complete your comprehension questions on the lined page, and your drawing on the blank page. There is no need to write the questions, just write the answers. You don’t need to miss a line between each question.
Have a fabulous Monday everyone. If you need me, please contact me via our class blog or ask an adult to email me. mrsdavies@westfieldprimaryschool.com
Stay safe. Keep smiling. J
