Oak Class Home Learning 05.06.2020
Date: 5th Jun 2020 @ 8:02am
Good morning Oak Class!
Another rainy day for us all, but as you know, I actually love the rain! I wish I was cuddled up on the sofa with my blanket today though – it’s definitely a day for Disney movies in my opinion.
Today will be the last task that is based on the Harry Potter book, to which I know many of you have enjoyed. We will start with a new theme next week and I will explain how home learning will begin to look as I will be teaching full time and thus not be accessing my blogs/emails regularly during the school day.
Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone
For today’s task, I would like you to write a biography about J.K. Rowling (she wrote the Harry Potter series of books).
For this, you will need to carry out some research and make notes about her life and achievements. Use a search engine for this.
Here is a link to her website:

Here are some links to other websites that might also be useful:

When writing a biography, remember to include the following features:
- Engage the reader through use of description, feelings and opinions
- Write in a consistent tense
- Use real life facts, including dates and place names
- Use thematic language specific to the subject
I would really like to read your biographies, so please send them to me to have a look at.
As a side note, stars from the Harry Potter films have recorded themselves reading different chapters of this book. You are able to access these for free via Spotify and Spotify Kids (audio). I’m going to start listening to them whilst I’m driving to work of a morning!
If you need me, please contact me via our blog. Alternatively, ask an adult to email me.
