About Westfield Primary School

Westfield Primary School is a 4 – 11 school with approximately 154 pupils on roll. The school serves the community to the East of Runcorn and surrounding areas. In addition, a significant number of pupils travel to the school from outside its immediate catchment area.

Westfield Primary School is renowned for the care and individual support provided for pupils and is served by a dedicated and highly professional teaching and support staff, numbering approximately 30.

A wide range of extra-curricular activities is available in the school including a sporting and musical programme, school productions and concerts and a variety of lunchtime activities. The school encourages pupils to involve themselves in the wider community and take advantage of the opportunities presented through links with Uganda, Wales and local charities and businesses.

A wide variety of trips and visits supports the curriculum in all subject areas; pastoral trips are also arranged. The school’s Creative Curriculum is suspended for particular days during the course of the year for Art’s Fortnight, which provides opportunities for many activities, projects and visits to enhance the educational experiences of all pupils and students.

Westfield has unequalled views across the Mersey. The site is surprisingly large, providing a range of sporting areas, including a newly designed yard and Forest School areas. The school’s buildings are light and airy, providing a pleasant working environment and offering a high level learning experience for all.

Westfield has achieved several significant awards in recent years, including Inclusion Quality Mark, Gold Arts Mark and BSL Sign to Sing awards. Westfield was inspected in October 2012. The resulting report was very pleasing –‘Good with Outstanding elements’, highlighting the many excellent aspects of the school. A full copy of the report can be accessed via the link on our home page.

Westfield is a lively and interesting place to work, professionally rewarding and a firm foundation for further career development. The staff development programme is integrated into the whole school development programme to meet the needs both of the institution and of the individual.

Our philosophy is based on a commitment to helping pupils achieve their full potential. This is summarised in our motto: ‘Aspiration for All’. We look, therefore, to recruit staff who are willing to contribute to the wider school community and to share their enthusiasms and expertise to the benefit of all the pupils.
